A big dog on short bent legs with massive feet. Slow hunting dogs , they retain the hound mentality and are happy in a pack. The Bassets are placid, friendly and tough. The short, hard, flat coat is easily cleaned.
Colours are generally tricolour - black, white and tan, or Lemon and white but any hound colour is accepted.
